New Shimano Sienna spinning reel

A quick review of the Shimano Sienna 2500 spinning reel. It was released in the fall of 2016. It’s a cheap and reliable reel that’s good for bass fishing or trout fishing. For around $30, it’s well within most people’s budget.

I have this exact sienna and was wondering what a good budget rod you would match it to for surf fishing. Love the videos!!

Thanks for the review, PK. I appreciate them in particular because I know I’ll see them in action on the surf in your future videos which is even more helpful.

Ironically I was choosing between this and the Kastking Triton Dualis 3000 recently for my travel rod since they were the same price. Ultimately went with the kastking due to the fact i can switch gear ratios (one for cranking and one for burning lures) but I’ll definitely keep an eye on this Sienna in case that one fails or– more likely– I get ANOTHER rod lol

What are the odds?! Both my husband and I unknowingly bought each other new reels for Christmas & wouldn’t you know it’s this exact model. We’ve used it 7 times since exchanging our gifts in December, and both love them. Used a spinner tipped with a power worm and caught an almost 6lb Rainbow in early January. Thanks for the videos, they’ve been incredibly informative & helpful in increasing the numbers of trout we’ve landed.

Hey PK, great video I’m glad to hear of your possible tournament over Memorial Day weekend I’m gonna be in seaside clamming, then head to barview jetty for surf fishing, and was planning on crabbing in Garibaldi, so if you have your tournament I will be there.

jack says:

If I plan to do ultra light trout fishing with 2-4lb test should I get the 1000 size or the 2500?

Harvey Yong says:

I picked up the Sienna 4000FE recently. It’s a smooth reel but it makes a ticking sound at each rotation. Does anybody else have this issue?

Shortee Hien says:

I bought the 1000 series for my pan fish rod it’s cheap and super smooth haven’t had issues yet

Mark Shane says:

Good review PK, The only thing about that reel that I do not care for is that it does not have a line roller bearing. That is the thing with low end Shimano reels, you have to step up to the Nexave to get a line roller bearing then you looking at 50 bucks. I wish there was a way to put a line roller bearing on the lower end reels, because I feel that is more important to have than some of the other bearings. Tight lines.

Jedhaase says:

Is this one as smooth or smoother than the old FD series?

Kristy Wood says:

first like.. Show some jetty fishing. Please. I miss Oregon so much. Tight lines!
