In this spinning reel review, Luke Simonds of Salt Strong goes over the pros and the cons of the new Florida Fishing Products Osprey 3000.
Some notable pros of the Florida Fishing Products Osprey 3000:
The company is based in Tampa, FL and they are incredibly accessible and willing to do anything it takes to make the customer happy.
The drag on this spinning reel is one of the highest out there.
It weighs a bit over 10 ounces which is about in the middle compared to the other leading 3000 series spinning reels.
It looks awesome!
It comes in an “Osprey 4000” series spinning reel as well for bigger inshore fish
Some cons:
It costs $180 so it’s a higher cost than popular reels like PENN, yet still much more affordable than some of the Shimano reels.
The company is brand new (which can be a pro and a con).
Overall, this Florida Fishing Reel seems to be a great value, and we will be taking it out on the water and putting it to the test next.

Good review, what is the main body on the Florida fishing reel made of? Is it aluminum or is it graphite?
great video i might buy one
I’m not impressed with these reels at all. For a no name company they sure asking alot for these reels $179+ .. no thanks… I’d rather stick with proven reels with proven names
Example the shimano stradic fk is only $155 on Amazon even sometimes cheaper on eBay
please do a review on a kastking reel
Is this another (YOUR NAME HERE CHINA BUILD HOUSE REEL?)Before I waist my hard earned cash,do not trust any of these manufacturers anymore, unless your spending $800+…
Florida Fishing Products website has on sale for $143.99
Not sure how they can charge 180? Penns cheaper and the customer already knows it’s a great reel!
Do you know if they are manufactured in Florida? If so, a video tour of their plant and assembly line would be cool.
Do they use machined or cast gears?
Is the handle user serviceable?
I’m curious to know how it holds up to fishing pressure. Have you had a chance to catch any reds or snook with it?
why is it advertised as a florida product but it’s made overseas?
