Spinning Reel Size Selection for Bass

Most avid bass anglers have a pile of casting reels, but spinning equipment needs to be in your arsenal for finesse applications and smallmouth fishing, especially on northern waters like the Great Lakes. But choosing the right spinning reel can be tricky considering common sizes from 1500 up to 4000. Bassmaster pro Josh Douglas nailed it when he says, “Minnesotan’s are born with a spinning rod in hand.” So take it from a guy with that upbringing that has traveled the touring circuit – Josh’s recommendations factor in line twist, handling, casting distance and fishing fighting power.
