Lipless Crankbaits Tips For Spring Bass Fishing

The Lipless is one of the best baits for Spring bass fishing! The key is learning how to use them to specifically target big bass instead of just chucking and winding for whatever might bite. Lipless crank baits are incredibly versatile. They can be burned through the water column, slow rolled and “ticked” through vegetation and cover, or hopped and dragged along the bottom like a jig. All of these presentations are effective during different Spring conditions, though some are more effective than others on different lakes. For anglers that travel lake to lake or anglers that want to be well rounded on their home lake, its important to own baits for each different “style” of lipless crankbait fishing.

What are your thoughts on the SPRO lipless? The Aruku Shad…

Blitz541 says:

Is there a temp range lipless works best or starts to work in spring? Always have good luck with them in the fall.

svmoua24 says:

Awesome vid Matt. Thanks. Looked in my lipless box and noticed that I have a bunch of unused Cotten Cordell Super Spots in there that will definitely see the water this spring.

Brometheus 420 says:

Love you guys. Always appreciate the videos. Your videos have improved my fishing 100%

sense383 smith says:

Great video, as always keep em coming, would love to see an in depth video on hardware, why you change treble hooks to what sizes to styles, how to big of hook could off balance bait to anything Matt and Tim can come up with, I think it’s a critical part of hardbaits, and would love to here more from you guys thanx

Kevin H. says:

Has the winner of the 100k Contact you guys yet. I was on Wheeler in Bama just got back to civilization.

midwestfisherman says:

No Bill Lewis Rat-L-Trap?! That’s surprising.

Never really had success with a lipless. Then I tried my red Dale Earnhardt Jr collectible one, pulled in five within a couple of hours.

Brody Stuart says:

Anyone have an opinion on the jackal bait one knocker vs the tn 70 and does it stand up on its nose on bottom

KeepCalm FishOn says:

I’ve seen people crush bass on purple and yellow cranks. When would you recommend using this color? Clear water, muddy water?

Fishin2The Max says:

Great info. Appreciate the links below!

1974124sport says:

Bottom hop? Please tell me about these lakes you fish with zero things to get snagged on on the bottom.

Dean Lyons says:

I have an off topic question. What is your opinion on the Shimano Sedona spinning reel? Would really value your opinion. Thanks

Twangtown7 says:

Great stuff as usual.

What are your thoughts on the Vibration X Ultra, and I know this isn’t a lipless but I picked up a couple Raid Level Cranks, I wanted to here from the best on these baits, thank you.

Chris Nourse says:

You need to try the Berkley Warpig Lipless crankbaits. I have pretty good luck with these. They come with the Berkley fusion hooks I don’t even change them out haven’t had any problems.

Clayton Scull says:

Have you guys ever tried the spro Aruku shad? They stand up really well on the bottom and seem to catch them for me. 🙂

FLAGATOR49 says:

@TacticalBassin love the lipless video, and information. Do you guys believe a Dobyns champion 705cb pails in comparison to a Loomis IMX Pro 845 CBR?

“Horse them and they will jump”

Backlash Flashback says:

Nice job, thank you for keeping in mind the budget friendly fishing options.

DK Dice says:

I broke my loomis square bill rod on my trunk like an idiot. Was upset it was discontinued, but the imx pro is nice. And thank god a longer cork. Thanks for the vids guys.

Brandon says:

Been teaching my friend how to bass fish for about a month now. Today we stopped by the lake before i went to work. Fresh after the rains, waters really muddy. He started drop shoting a black senko. First this guy catches a 20lb carp then about 15 min later i talk him into giving it a longer leader. Two casts later he catches a 12.69lb bass

alexnelson09 says:

Just ordered 5 baits through your links! Thanks for taking the time to share this info with us so we can go straight to the great baits without investing so much time and money searching for them!! Your channel rocks and congrats on 100K subs!

Rodney Gard says:

My lipless collection is out of control and honestly its because of you guys lol. (Not a bad thing at all)! But recommed for a hook video like when to use a wide gap work hook vs a traditional worm hook. And what size hook for soft plastics and why, how to tell if its to small or too big. Took me awhile on my own to learn all of that and help from fellow angles but i think you guys could make and awesome and informative video with hooks for soft plastics.

death pandemic says:

northland and rapala both make lipless cranks for ripping that you might want to try out, really like the northland ones.

Mario Hernandez says:

Bro love all you videos! You used to sell Mona Vie , me and my parents sold it as well. We were under Mr. Jimmy Reese ! My buddy Ron Bettiga sold it to . Pretty cool ! We are headed to Clearlake on Friday the 30th . Hope to run into you and say thanks for all the great tips !

Kevin H. says:

6th Sense Quake is my new favorite. What do you guys think of them?
