Monofilament or Braid?

WEBSITE: http://saltwaterexperience.com

What kind of fishing line should you use? Should you use monofilament or braid? Braid is our choice almost 99% of the time. It allows us to use lighter tackle with heavier line and catch bigger fish.

Well i’m thinking about getting the quantum cabo, but I dont’t know which size to get, what do you suggest? I fish in ponds and lakes most of the time. If I get it, i’ll also need some fishing line. I’m going to get the braid, but what lb. test and color do you suggest?

just bought a Penn battle 2 4000n loaded it with 30 lb braid. only used braid once before n had a horrible experience with it but I’m willing to give it another try. going bay fishing in a few weeks n hope to b impressed with this setup!

Mirror Image Mask Art says:

I finally loaded my Penn slammer 460 up with braid and tried to love it but I just don’t like the feel of it,and dealing with it is even worse.Being stronger is a obvious advantage but mono feels so good.

Myke. H says:

I use both.

most of the professionals will push braid because the are sponsored by like power pro etc. but really its about what you prefer i prefer mono over braid and my poiunt is if you know how to fish and know how to cast you dont need tricks, as far as the high price spinning reels nah that aint true its all about your experience the reel isnt going to make you a better fisherman just a poorer one if you fall for the b/s the secret is get out and fish

baitfilms says:

Mono. Stopping Sporting Braid.

Arthur Reed says:

Really it depends on the type of fishing you are fishing for pan fish , bass, crappie, blue Gill , walleye buffalo etc can be easily caught on 4 to 15 lb mono or flurocarbin line with ease but if you fishing for the river monster like 20lb or better then go to braid or any other brands of superlines that’s out their but MONO will get the dam job done pluse smoother casting and color mono that will not fade

I’m guessing this was shot on a Sony ax33 or ax53. The awesome optical stabiliser, along with the horrible chromatic aberration are dead giveaways. You rarely see both in the same shot anywhere else

NEED ONE ,HOW?

fireriver 610 says:

if you think about it my reel can hold 175 yards of 10 pound mono and it can barley hold half as much as a 150 yard spool of 40 pound powerpro with a 10 pound line diameter and even 10 pound braid with 2 pound diameter spool comes with less line, mono is easier to work with trilene has tons of strength and good casting. i would definitely choose mono over braided line in most situations. it is not true that you can fit more braid on your reel than mono I could fit 175 yards of 10 lb mono and 150 of ten pound braided line for double the price. more mono, same line lb test, and 5-7 dollars as cheap than braid depending on what brand

Jordan says:

How was that braid vs mono

Mirror Image Mask Art says:

I did like the sensitivity of it though. For deep water bottom fishing I will use it.

Mr. Channel Catfish says:

I’ll stick with mono.

Ian Stallings says:

Braided is garbage. Just my humble opinion.
