Today we’re going to be taking a look at the 70 series fishing rod holder from CE Smith. This is a flush-mounted rod holder that’s going to hold one fishing pole, up to 80-pound class. It’s going to let you fish hands-free and have multiple lines in the water. It does feature a 30-degree angle. That’s going to help create a wide trolling spread which is going to be the most common angle for fishing rod holders. The unit is made from 316L stainless steel construction. It’s going to be highly resistant towards rust and corrosion and it’s going to have a nice polished mirror finish which is going to look great on your boat.
We’re looking at a wide, low-profile flange that’s going to be welded to the tube for durability. It’s also going to feature the open bottom. That’s going to let water drain out of the holder and it’s got the built-in gimbal bar. That’s going to help keep your rod from spinning and it’s going to hold it in place. The gimbal bar dimensions, that’s going to measure a quarter of an inch wide by a half inch tall. It’s also going to feature a vinyl liner.
That’s going to protect the rod from scratches and scuffs. The holder is going to mount in your boat’s gunwale. It does require a two-inch diameter hole to be cut in the gunwale to get this to mount and then it’s going to attach with three quarter-inch bolts or screws. Your hardware is not included, so that will need to be provided separately. The length that we have. I’m taking a measurement from the bottom of the tube to the base of the weld.
That’s going to give us a measurement of about nine inches long. Inner tube diameter measuring from inside edge to inside edge of that vinyl liner, that’s going to measure about one and five-eighths of an inch. Outer tube diameter is going to measure around two inches. Then when it comes to the mounting flange, that’s going to give us a width of three and five-eighths with a length of about four and a half inches. That’s going to do it for today’s look at the CE Smith 70 series fishing rod holder.
